We cover most of Australia as our site is based in Mingenew Western Australia, Engineering and Software Development in the ACT, Network Operations Centre in the Canberra Region, Head Office in Melbourne and engaging consultants across the ACT, QLD, SA and VIC.

Capricorn Space is looking for an IT Specialist Level 1 (Operations) to support our growing datacentre and network infrastructure. We are looking for an applicant with strong knowledge of Datacentre and Network Infrastructure systems, be experienced in maintaining a 24/7 operational capability and continually seeking ways for improving processes, technology and end customer experience.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and laterally to solve problems, to work well against tight deadlines, be self-motivated and have a natural ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities is definitely a plus. Essential Job Functions

  • Diagnose and resolve network issues
  • Updates and configurations of servers
  • Installation and commissioning of storage arrays
  • Build, evolve and maintain VMWare virtualisation platforms
  • Configuration of switches and routers
  • Upgrade core applications
  • Rollout of new servers
  • O365 Management
  • Modifying firewall rules
  • Management of security events
  • Assisting escalated Level 2 tickets
  • Creating new policies for endpoints and servers
  • Maintaining VOIP systems
  • Creating and Updating documentation

Your Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of IT operations experience
  • Solid knowledge of products including Windows Server, Virtualization (VMWare desirable), SQL Server, Active Directory, MS Azure, Office 365
  • Strong networking knowledge of LAN and WAN hardware and services (i.e. switches, routers, firewalls, proxy servers, TCP/IP subnetting, VPN, DHCP, DNS)
  • Working experience with Desktop application support and server hardware knowledge
  • SAN setup and maintenance knowledge
  • Administrative scripting (Windows PowerShell desirable)
  • Backup and recovery experience
  • Understanding of web technologies (.Net, Java, XML, HTML, Web Server, middle ware)

Additional Requirements

  • Exposure on Linux (Ubuntu/Mint)
  • Understanding LDAP, RADIUS, SAML, SSO, PKI, SSL, etc.
  • Performing server upgrades & deployments to support business projects
  • Conducting end-user support as required
  • Performing basic network management and Linux server support as required
  • Creating Active Directory Accounts per On-Boarding Process
  • Maintaining and Administering Group Policy Objects
  • Monitoring of server (Virtual and Physical) performance and troubleshoot hardware issues
  • Monitoring and Administering VM servers - via hardware /firmware updates and software updates
  • Tracking of Hardware following Asset Management Process and Procedures
  • Setting-up and Configuring various Hardware e.g. Desktop computers, Laptops
  • Upgrading of Business Applications in both Test and Production environments
  • Developing and maintaining reliable system backup plans, ensuring data can be recovered
  • Reporting on system activity as required - including usages of services, backups, server performance

Conditions of Employment

  • Australia based
  • 38 hour work week (highly flexible to enable work-life balance and our need to interface with multiple world time zones)
  • Available to provide Out-Of-Hours support (with compensated time)
  • Base salary range of A$100k – A$120k (experience dependent)
  • Superannuation and Leave per Australian industry standards
